Venture's Challenge Course

 "What I hear, I forget, what I see, I remember--what I do, I understand."

The Wall

The Team Challenge Course (TC) has been successfully used by a wide variety of groups. The Team Challenge Course involves various trust building and problem solving tasks that require group interaction and cooperation to complete. For groups that are discussion oriented, a TC session can be a fun way to accelerate the process of breaking down personal barriers, building trust and cohesion within the group.

                  Course Activites, please click here.

Mobile Mohawk Walk

The Mobile Activities similar to those at the TC can be used on the main campus either outside on the lawns or inside a room for shorter class sessions.  We also offer the flexiblity of meeting at a location off campus.

 Matrix Jump
The High Team Challenge Course (HTC) provides for flexible programming. A session at the HTC can focus along a variety of client needs from recreation to intensive teambuilding. The HTC extends the teamwork developed from the TC or mobile activities and challenges the group to again stretch the boundaires of their comfort zone and work together with the whole team up in the air. With this experience, more people are truly involved and engaged with the experience offered by the HTC. This leads to great learning opportunities as well as more fun. The HTC is designed to be an experience to build self-confidence, teamwork, communication, awareness of strengths and limitations, trust, respect for others and coping skills for dealing with anxiety and stress. Because the HTC is more staff intensive, there is a minimal charge for this program.

3.  How Physical Is The Program?

Level of Physical Activity need not be a concern for our training programs.

  • We design programs to be appropriate for all of the people in your group.
  • Many of the activities may involve little to no physical challenge at all.
  • Voluntary participation is emphasized: each participant chooses his or her own level of participation.
  • No extra physical strength or conditioning is necessary to participate.
  • The staff will ensure that special attention will be given to warming-up, spotting, and safety procedures.
  • These activities involve more perceived risk than actual risk.
  • The attention to safety has resulted in an excellent safety record during Venture's 25+ years of operation of which Venture is also accredited by the Association for Experiential Education.

4.  Why Experiential Training?

"We believe that learning is not a spectator sport. People learn best, not by being told but by experiencing the consequences of their thoughts and actions. Our role, then, is to arrange experiences that help people learn." (Instructors Creed, Training House, 1986)
