Venture Staff Order Information

Understanding the Rationale behind Equipment Discounts:

Gear Manufacturers allow people actively working in the field of outdoor education to order gear at discount prices because they believe it will help sell their equipment. Discounts can be abused by individuals of which the ordering priveledge can be taken away. The organizations who extend the priveledge of ordering equipment at a discount off of retail price are very clear that they expect Venture to screen who we allow to order. The expectation is that anyone ordering should be regularly working in an outdoor setting with clients who will be exposed to the equipment that is purchased.

To help clarify who is eligible and who is not, we have added some detail to our policy:

Eligibility Policy for Venture Staff Order Staff orders are for current Voltage Staff who are actively involved in the program for the semester prior to the order, as defined by the following:

  1. Working in a paid capacity in a leadership position (or for volunteers who are filling in what would be a leadership role) and fulfilling all duties associated with that position (attending pre-trip and post-trip meetings, working at the WALL or HTC / TC programs and paperwork, etc.)
  2. Participating in at least one additional training or meeting each semester.
  3. Demonstrated commitment to Venture (this is obviously subjective) If you are unsure of whether you are eligible based on the above criteria, call or come by the office and talk to a CORE staff.
  4. A CORE staff needs to be informed that you are making a purchase order for ANY company. 
  5. All purchases are for the sole Volt, you may not order for friends or family.
