Kristin grew up on the Chesapeake Bay in Chespeake Beach, MD. No one who has stood on Randalls Cliffs could come away without an appreciation for the outdoors, its impact on us, and our impact on nature.

Kristin began her outdoor career while attending St. Mary's College of Maryland as a camp counselor at the Patuxent River 4H Center. It was at the 4H Center that she learned she had a passion for facilitation, education and working with youth. When she graduated from SMCM in 2004 with a bachelors degree in psychology, though, she was not yet sure how to combine these passions into meaningful work.

After a few months of discernment and research, Kristin learned that there were not just jobs but an entire industry devoted to facilitation, education, and the outdoors. In December 2007, Kristin completed her masters in parks and recreation management from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. As part of her degree program, she petitioned for the opportunity to attend Outward Bound's Outdoor Leader Course in lieu of a masters project or thesis. That experience, in combination with her work as a graduate assistant for UNCG's outdoor program, solidified Kristin's passion for experiential education and her work with emerging adults.

Kristin returned to Baltimore in 2009 to work for Loyola University Maryland's outdoor program and spent the next seven years dedicated to helping the student leaders of the Outdoor Adventure Experience program become leaders for all contexts. In 2016, Kristin jumped at the opportunity to continue her work in this field with the students at UNC Charlotte!

For her next adventure, Kristin will return to the world of psychology to complete a thesis on leadership development in emerging adults on her way to a PhD. In the meantime, she keeps up with industry trends by being a member of the Association of Experiential Education, the Association of Outdoor Recreation and Education, maintaining her Wilderness First Responder certification, and Level 2 Sea Kayaking Instructor certification with the American Canoe Association.
